Each year, Toastmasters International – an organisation to which Eastbourne Speakers is affiliated – runs parallel competitions: one is for an inspirational speech and the other is for giving the most constructive evaluation (feedback) of a speech. These contests are run as a knockout competition where contestants go through the phases of club, area, regional and then national stages.
Last week, Steve Neesam and Fern Lulham won our club competition for the International Speech contest and the Evaluation contest respectively. Today, they represented our club in the Area competition, competing against winners of other clubs in the area. Wonderful news: they both won.
The next stage is that they both represent our area in the Regional competition which includes representatives from all of the Toastmasters clubs south of the Thames, from the eastern tip of Kent to the western side of the M25, down to the south coast. This will take place on Sunday, April 22nd in Edenbridge and we wish them both the best of luck.
